The Effect of Lead on the Biologic Indicators of Lead Exposurer

Abstract
This specific study was focused on the finding of the effect of lead on the biological indicators based on workers in Chung-Buk area. Largely the workers are divided into four main groups according to their working environments; lead soldering, spray coating, rolling, and lead alloying. The data of lead concentrations in air of the working place, in the blood samples of the workers, and the data of hematologic and biochemical parameters are used to compare the effect of lead. The results are in the following. Lead concentrations in air for each occupation sites were 0.0006¡¾0.013mg/§© for soldering, 0.0051¡¾0.067mg/§© for spray coating, 0.0057¡¾0.010mg/§© for rolling and 0.0009¡¾0.0179mg/§© for lead alloying. Based on the data the rolling sites are found to have the highest level of lead concentration. Lead concentrations in blood for each occupation sites were 5.45¡¾2.25§¶/§£ for normal control, 6.26¡¾3.60§¶/§£ for soldering, 9.34¡¾6.90§¶/§£ for spray coating, 17.65¡¾14.30§¶/§£ for rolling and 23.77¡¾2.25§¶/§£ for lead alloying. The lead alloying occupation sites are found to have the highest lead concentration. Correlation between lead concentration in air and blood were valid but showed a weak correlation coeffiecients. In conclusion, the Chung-Buk area showed a relatively low level of lead concentration in both the working air and in the blood compare to other area. Also, the biological indicators were relatively low.
